About me

I’m a literary translator working between Portuguese and English, with over a decade of experience translating, writing and editing in commercial, academic and journalistic contexts. Through my studies of Portuguese-language literature and my time living in Portugal and Brazil, I have been able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the literary landscapes of both countries, as well as key cultural insights that inform my work at every stage.

I read widely across prose, drama and poetry, and I’m always eager to make new discoveries. I’ve spent many an hour riffling through the shelves of bookshops from Lisbon to São Paulo, hunting down pieces with an original point of view, an unfamiliar setting or a unique style. Above all, I connect with stories that are beautifully written and absorbing, and I have a soft spot for the surreal and the absurd.

As a translator, I’m driven by a desire to share different perspectives with readers. I’m therefore particularly interested in work written by authors from underrepresented communities and spaces, especially diasporic and queer voices. Take a look at the books I’m currently pitching here.
